Mukhtar mai..........................in the name of honor

Mukhtar Mai.. …….In the name of honor.

The true story of Mukhtar Mai shows that face of the Pakistani society (considering cultures to be of time before partition) which no one can hide at least from our selves। A women with all the doors closed and only one will to get those people punished who punished her without any guilt। She shouted in front of whole world “what was my fault”।

And the whole world realized her pain।

Raped by four people, in front of the whole village, Mukhtar was left with two options one to suicide and the other two fight back for her Honor, for the honor of her family and for the honor of Women society. No one walked in the second path but she dared to do so. She took them to court faced all those ups and down which the police creates to save the dominant parties.

How innocently she says that “Its desire for justice that has given me back my honor, because a person should never feel guilty for one else’s crime.”

22 June 2003 she faced the evil in the jirga.
30 June 2003 she complained as she was deciding between suicide and honor.
31 august 2003 the antiterrorism court gives death sentence to six and eight were relieved.

Abdul khalif , Mohhammad faiz, Ghulam farid, Allah dita.
And two other for witnessing the crime namely Faiza and Ramzan(mukhtar’s uncle who played a suspicious role).
But inspite of Mukhtars continous fight the Lahore high court reversed the anti-terrorism courts decision and released all of them. Mukhtar never left her hope and reached every door even the PM to get her justice. Then the supreme court agreed to take the appeal of reveiew by supreme court.
In between president Musharaf also tried to stop mukhtar from delivering any speech outside the country to hide the insane of those people who call themselves the living God over womens.
Inspite of the Destructing life mukhtar faced she was gutsy enough to come up with solution atlleast for the future generation to come. She started running a school in her town meerwala.
At present she is working in many projects for the upliftment of women in Pakistan and other parts of the world.
Mukhtar mai’s story made me think again and again about the male dominated society we are still living in. Leave the cities aside think of the place like meerwala and you will shiver with fear that the story is more or less the same in their land as well as in our’s .
